Pop-Up Spray Sprinkler Heads: Size Matters
A standard pop-up spray sprinkler head is 4" tall. But for many irrigation applications, that's just too short. Taller grass or landscaping blocks the water flow, making some areas get too much water and some get too little. It also wastes water, making water bills higher. Sean Mullarkey of TriState Water Works shows how we can switch out for 6" pop-up spray sprinkler heads in important areas. It's an easy fix with a big impact.

The Sprinkler System Repair Shortcut that Shorts Out
Переглядів 48Місяць тому
Wiring issues are some of the most challenging sprinkler system repairs we encounter. When a pipe breaks, there's gushing water to show us where to repair. When a wire snaps, we have to trace it underground. Some less thorough companies take an unfortunate shortcut by installing a battery-operated valve actuator. Sean of TriState Water Works shows why this is no long-term solution.

Why wouldn't you twist the piston? You're making it much harder than it needs to be. I guess you don't understand how they work.

If you just turned it off at the controller and did not shut the water off at the backflow or the water shut off in your house. That means there's a stuck valve you will need to turn the water off to the irrigation system. Easiest way to do that is to shut it off at the backflow.

I understand the need for backflow system certifications in industrial applications and for high rise buildings, etc. However, I can't conceive of what practical purpose it serves in a residential irrigation systems where the potential for any reasonable and sustained pressure to cause a reverse flow into a municipal water system exists. For residential applications, this seems like a totally ridiculous and costly requirement. Is there any case anywhere in the world where a residential irrigation system backflowed into the municipal water supply? This is not a nationwide standard (based on the four locations that I've lived). It's as likely that my garden hose used to wash the car or in other tasks could backflow, though there is no requirement on residential (non-irrigation) hook ups to have a backflow preventer. Otherwise, every house in the US would be required to have this. This is another example of government over-regulation and should be revised for reasonable and practical reasons.

You speak the truth. This law was mandated by the U.S. EPA in the clean water act. It is a bureaucratic mandate. Most of the worst laws are contrived by bureaucratic mandate in which we have no say, no control and very little if any recourse. Thanks for sharing your comments Brett.

It's an ad. It's a never-ending, never get to the damned point, ad, as bloated with useless "information" while this "doctor" prattles on about poop in order to sell you some dubious supplement. If you think she'll actually reveal her secret "in just a minute" (as she keeps promising half-way through the boring diatribe), you'll be disappointed. Skip it. It's just an add leading up to her supplement.

Why would the drop ins only last 3-5 years? The bulb may die in 3-5 years, but then u can just replace the bulb for $20-$50. When the integrated fixture leds die after 50,000 hours, u have to replace the whole fixture

My electrician installed 4 inches, slim panel 9W = 80w, 750Lm, 4000K Dimmable but the house looks very grayish/white. It changed the color of the brick to cool tones and looks awful. I tried to use the dimmer to the lowest set but it is very bight light and greyish instead of a low light. I like warmer tones. My other option is 3000K but i am afraid it will be very yellow/golden tones. please help...Thank you in advance, M
